Suspect apprehended for shooting law enforcement officers

AMMAN — Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a shooting incident against two law enforcement officials a day earlier.
"A special force raided a house where the defendant was staying and arrested him without any major incident," Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.
The police official told The Jordan Times that a special investigation team was tasked with finding the suspect following the shooting incident that left two police officers injured.
The Tuesday shooting incident occurred when a police force went to arrest a wanted person in Ein Al Basha, according to a Public Security Department statement.
"When the police force arrived in the area, the suspect opened fire, injuring two police officers," the statement added.
Both officers were rushed to a nearby hospital and are listed in fair condition, according to the statement.
The incident is currently under investigation, the statement said.
The statement added that the suspect will be referred to the criminal court prosecutor in the coming days for further questioning.
