Royal initiatives: Development projects launched in Jerash

AMMAN — In implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah's directives, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, who is also head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of the Royal initiatives, on Thursday announced the launch of a series of Royal development projects in Jerash.

Issawi's announcement came during a meeting with dignitaries, youth and women representatives in Jerash, where he listened to their needs and demands to consider implementing them depending on the available resources, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The initiatives include the construction of 100 housing units for underprivileged families, chosen as per standards accredited by the Social Development Ministry, and the establishment of a factory in the governorate, under the satellite branches initiative, which will provide 200 to 400 jobs, with transport services provided to the workplace.

The initiatives also include upgrading the Jerash sports complex, constructing and equipping a healthcare centre and a new building for Nehlah Primary School.

During the meeting, Issawi stressed His Majesty's keenness to communicate with Jordanians and listen to their needs, where he issued directives to implement development projects that correspond with the characteristics of each area.

Praising His Majesty’s efforts to develop the Kingdom at all levels and his political endeavours to serve Arab and Islamic causes, the dignitaries of Jerash congratulated His Majesty on his successful surgery and safe return to the homeland, and wished him continued good health and wellbeing

The attendees spoke about their needs and demands, which were mainly focused on poverty and unemployment in the governorate, supporting farmers and employment programmes through productive projects, and improving the educational, cultural, health and infrastructure services.

Issawi said that all these needs and demands will be referred to King Abdullah, noting that some of the demands will be discussed with the government to be listed on its priority projects.
