AMMAN — In implementation of Royal directives, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Sunday checked on several development projects as part of Royal initiatives in the Tafileh Governorate.

These initiatives included building 100 houses, establishing a factory under the Productive Branches Initiative and providing it with necessary transport, as well as establishing a centre specialised in training young people for industrial professions in the new industrial estate, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The initiatives also included opening a park in the Bseira District and providing the Tafileh Municipality with a garbage truck and loader.

Issawi, during a meeting with governorate dignitaries and investment representatives for the youth and women sectors, listened to the top needs and demands of the southern governorate, in a bid to consider their implementation depending on available resources under Royal directives.

Issawi, who is also head of the follow up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, delivered a speech stressing that Tafileh residents have played a main role in the development of the country.

He said that His Majesty stresses that the true challenge is related to combating poverty and unemployment which increases citizens’ worries, reiterating that the King always seeks to provide a decent standard of living for Jordanians.

Tafileh dignitaries reviewed top demands of their governorate, which focused mainly on finding solutions to address poverty and unemployment, supporting farmers and their projects, supporting employment programmes through focusing on productivity schemes, improving educational, youth, cultural and infrastructure services, supporting charity associations and attracting investments.

They also called for improving the level of healthcare services, providing vocational training that ends with employment through establishing specialised centres and empowering women economically and socially, in addition to stimulating tourism, especially as the governorate is home to important tourist destinations.

Replying to the demands, Issawi said that all these requests will be referred to His Majesty and followed up in cooperation with government stakeholders.

Issawi also checked on several Royal initiatives, such as a gymnasium, a care centre for people with disabilities and a project to build 18 houses for underprivileged families.
