AMMAN — In implementation of the Royal directives, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Thursday launched multiple development initiatives in Madaba.

The Royal initiatives include the construction of 100 housing units for underprivileged families and the construction of a factory in the central region. The factory will be constructed under the Productive Branches Initiative and will provide 200 to 400 job opportunities for people in the area.

The initiatives also include the construction of a primary school for boys in the central Hanienah region and the rehabilitation of three parks in Mulieh, Theibn and Jabal Bani Hamiedah, as well as providing Princess Salma Hospital with its necessary needs, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During a meeting with a number of Madaba dignitaries and representatives of youth and women's activities, Issawi, who is also head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of the Royal initiatives, stressed that the projects will be implemented in coordination with the relevant government bodies and partner agencies.

Madaba, 30km southwest of Amman, will also have initiatives in various sectors in the future, according to the needs and the priorities of each region, he added.

He heard the most pressing needs and demands of the people of Madaba, in a bid to consider their implementation depending on available resources. He highlighted that these meetings come under the direct directives of His Majesty King Abdullah.

Replying to the demands, Issawi said that all the requests will be referred to His Majesty and followed up with in cooperation with government entities.

The Royal Initiative for Housing was launched in 2005 to secure decent housing and a stable life for underprivileged families across the Kingdom in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah’s pledges during his meetings with dignitaries and public figures from the various governorates.

Launched in 2008, the Productive Branches Initiative focuses on the establishment of productive branches for mega-factories and companies in villages and governorates, to facilitate Jordanian youth’s access to workplaces and training programmes.

The Royal initiatives also focus on the education sector, through introducing new schools, adding new classrooms, laboratories, and workshops to implement and create an effective learning environment.
