AMMAN — The Water Ministry, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate, has implemented a security campaign to halt water violations on main water lines in Madaba and the Jordan Valley and to remove illegal fixtures that were drawing water to irrigate farms and fill water tankers.

The ministry said that the campaign is part of its ongoing efforts to control water resources across the Kingdom, where five cases of water theft were detected in Madaba to supply farms with water and sell water through tankers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Tuesday.

The ministry said that it has detected 10 cases of water theft in the Jordan Valley, including installing pumps to withdraw water illegally, in addition to detecting violations in households, including manipulating water gauges. The ministry called on citizens to report such violations that affect water provision and cause major interruptions in water supplies.
