Water theft cases detected in Amman, Balqa

AMMAN — Personnel at the Water Ministry, Jordan Water Company (Miyahuna) and other stakeholders have detected new violations on main pipelines in Amman and Balqa, which turned out to use up to 150 cubic feet water per hour to provide farms, brick factories and water tankers in an illegal way.
The ministry, in a statement on Tuesday, said that personnel detected violations on four mains in Al Muwaqqar to provide farms, water tankers and a big reservoir with water, in addition to detecting violations on water mains to illegally provide farms with water.
All illegal fixtures were removed and relevant reports were made on these violations. The ministry also called on the public to report any incidents of tampering with water resources through the hotline 117116.
