Water Ministry, GIZ hold workshop for women plumbers in Maan

AMMAN — The Ministry of Water/Water Authority, in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), on Wednesday held a workshop for women plumbers in Maan. 

The workshop comes as part of the reuse of treated water and water supplies project with the participation of the Wise Women Plumbers Cooperative. 

During the event, Omar Salameh, an official from the Water Ministry, said that Maan tops the ministry's priorities, noting that the southern region will be among the primary beneficiaries of the National Carrier Project, according to a ministry statement. 

Highlighting the ministry's efforts to improve service provision in Maan, the official said that a JD2.5-million project alongside projects worth 11 million euros to upgrade water networks have started, in addition to other schemes for drilling wells. 

He drew attention to the importance of women's participation in water-related issues through training in plumbing and household maintenance.
