Speaker, Cyprus ambassador discuss parliamentary ties

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Abdulmunim Oddat and Cyprus Ambassador to the Kingdom Michalis Ioannou on Thursday discussed means of advancing the two countries’ bilateral ties in all sectors, especially in the parliamentary field.
Oddat, during the meeting, stressed the importance of keeping up consultations between the two countries' parliaments to serve common interests, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He also drew attention to building on the outcomes of the trilateral meetings between His Majesty King Abdullah, the Cypriot president and the Greek prime minister to serve the best interests of the peoples of the three countries.
The envoy expressed appreciation of Jordan’s role in maintaining regional security and stability, highlighting the Kingdom’s efforts in shouldering the burdens resulted from receiving refugees.
He added that his country sees Jordan as a “major and key” partner in the region, as well as one of the pivotal supporters of regional security and stability, given its voice of moderation and positions of His Majesty King Abdullah.
