AMMAN — The Swiss embassy in Amman, in collaboration with the Royal Film Commission, on Wednesday screened six short Swiss films as part of this year’s Francophonie celebrations at the Rainbow Theatre.
The screenings started with “Aatosaurus Rex”, which addresses the impact of cars and transport pollution on the environment, according to a statement from the Swiss embassy.
“Tente 113, Idomeni”, tells the story of a 19-year-old boy and his migration to Switzerland. The animation “Primitivo” teaches the viewers the secret behind the driving force of human evolution.
“The Record” is set in a music shop where an old man works. The animation shows how his whole life changes the day he receives a vinyl from a stranger that reads his mind and plays his lost memories.
The fifth animation “Selfies” illustrates digital self-portraits in a creative and profound way and was followed by “LaBaleine” where a young man discovers a whale stranded on a beach. He drifts into a dream that takes him back in time where he relives moments with his beloved mother.
Switzerland has been a full member of the International Organisation of La Francophonie since 1996, among 54 other countries. Democracy, peace and human rights, as well as the promotion of linguistic diversity and the support to sustainable economy, innovation and digitalisation are Switzerland's main lines of action within the Francophonie.
