AMMAN — The Swiss documentary film “Free Men” (2018) by director Anne-Frédérique Widmann will be screened at the Rainbow Theatre on Wednesday at 7pm.
The film illustrates the story of inmate Kenneth Reams in Arkansas (US), sentenced to death at the age of 18 and in solitary confinement for the last 25 years, according to a Swiss embassy statement. Presented by the Embassy of Switzerland in Jordan in collaboration with the Royal Film Commission, the screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the issue of capital punishment in the presence of the film director, with a reception following, the statement said, adding that entrance is free of charge.
“Free Men” is a film about human resilience. The film won the Special Award for documentary at the Alger International Film Festival in 2018 as well as a jury award at the 16th edition of the prestigious International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights in 2018 in Geneva, the statement said.
