AMMAN — A Royal initiative was launched on Sunday for families with limited incomes after His Majesty King Abdullah met with dignitaries and representatives of Zarqa and Mafraq earlier this year, according to a Royal Court statement.
During the ceremony, agreements were signed between the Social Development Centres Society (SDCS) and 23 societies that benefit from the initiative.
The initiative, funded by the Royal Court and implemented in cooperation with directorates of the Social Development Ministry, aims at helping underprivileged families to improve their living conditions by implementing small income-generating enterprises.
At the signing ceremony, Royal Court Secretary General Yousef Issawi said the initiative would help underprivileged families become productive through small enterprises, whose benefits would reflect positively on the community.
Issawi, who heads a committee entrusted with following up on Royal initiatives, said the King’s directives focus on empowering the youth and their families to access an income, noting that this initiative meets the needs of families in various areas of Zarqa and Mafraq.
Social Development Minister Khawla Armouti stressed her ministry’s readiness to support charitable societies.
