Rise in temperatures on Wednesday to give way to chilly weekend weather — JMD

AMMAN — Temperatures are forecast to rise on Wednesday and Thursday, reaching 10 degrees above the annual average, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD). 

On Thursday, the JMD predicted that a sandstorm will affect the Kingdom prior to unstable weather conditions that are forecast to bring intermittent rainfall around the Kingdom.

On Thursday night, clouds are forecast to gather with gusts over 90 kilometres per hour and heavy rainfall, forming torrents in low areas including Aqaba, in spite of the warm weather, the department predicted, adding that dust will remain in areas that do not witness rainfall. 

On Friday, the JMD forecast a drop in temperatures, bringing relatively cold weather to most areas around the Kingdom and warm weather in the Jordan Valley and Aqaba, with a chance of rainfall during the early morning hours and heavy rainfall at night. 

The temperatures in Amman on Wednesday are expected to see a high of 24°C during the day and a low of 13°C at night. Temperatures are expected to range between 26°C and 14°C on Thursday and between 19° C and 4°C on Friday.

In Zarqa, temperatures are forecast to range between 27°C and 16°C on Wednesday, while on Thursday they are forecast to range between 29°C and 17°C. On Friday, temperatures are forecast to drop to between 20°C and 11°C.

In Aqaba, mercury levels on Wednesday are forecast to reach a high of 32°C during the day and a low of 20°C at night, while on Thursday temperatures are expected to range between 34°C and 21°C and Friday is expected to see a drop in temperatures to between 29°C and 16°C, according to the JMD.
