Mobile phone operators' revenues reached JD637m in 2021 — TRC

AMMAN — Revenues of the mobile phone operators in the Kingdom (Zain, Orange and Umniah) reached some JD673 million in 2021, compared with JD655 million in 2020, marking an increase of 3 per cent, Chief Commissioner of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) Bassam Sarhan said on Monday. According to a TRC Statement, Sarhan noted that the main source of revenues of these companies is data services accounting for 55 per cent of the total revenues in 2021, which mark a 13 per cent growth rate. He noted that the investment volume in the mobile phone sector in 2021 reached some JD257, compared with JD83 million in 2020, marking an increase rate of 210 per cent. He added that the increase is attributed to renewing frequency licenses and increasing investments in the infrastructure. As for the fixed telecommunication sector, Sarhan stated that the investment volume in this sector in 2021 reached some JD40 million, which is 9 per cent higher than the previous year.
