Meteorological department partners with civil aviation commission

AMMAN — The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) on Tuesday signed an agreement with the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), under which it will provide the commission with information related to air navigation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Transport Minister Hussein Al Souob said that, under the agreement, the JMD will receive local and international forecasts and synoptic scale information to issue forecast for airports, weather warnings and maps, in addition to temperature and wind maps for the different sky layers.

Captain Haitham Misto, chief commissioner of the CARC, said the commission is deemed as the Kingdom’s representative at the International Civil Aviation Organisation, and is concerned with supervising the aviation sector. JMD Director General Mohammad Samawi noted that the department obtained the ISO9001-2008 certificate in 2014, to provide advanced services for civil aviation.
