AMMAN — The Amman Magistrate’s Court on Sunday sentenced a man to three months in prison after convicting him on charges of spreading misinformation.
The man was found guilty of fabricating a story claiming that a restaurant in Amman sold donkey meat and sentenced him to three months in prison, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During an open trial, the court said that the verdict can be appealed.
The convict published a post on a public page on Facebook, in which he claimed that a restaurant sold donkey meat unfit for human consumption.
Security forces arrested him, referring him to the public prosecutor, who charged him with misinformation which “stirred a public state of panic”, according to Petra.
