AMMAN — First Deputy of the Lower House Speaker MP Ahmad Safadi on Saturday participated in an event titled “Supporting Al Aqsa and Holy Sites” on the 74th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakbeh.
The Nakbeh (catastrophe) commemorates the uprooting of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes after the creation of Israel on Palestinian land in 1948. In a speech delivered on behalf of Lower House Speaker Abdulkarim Dughmi, Safadi said that Jordan will continue, under the Hashemite leadership, to defend and support Palestinians until they achieve their legitimate rights by establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Attending the event, Secretary General of the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA) Abdullah Kanaan also stressed that Jerusalem will remain the Arab, Islamic capital of Palestine.
