Khasawneh mourns passing of former deputy prime minister Hmoud

AMMAN — Prime Minister BisherKhasawneh on Tuesday mourned the passing of former Deputy Prime Minister Marwan Hmoud, paying tribute to Hmoud’sefforts in public service and expressing condolences to his family, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Hmoud served as deputy prime minister in 1999 and 2000, as well as minister of agriculture, interior, municipal and rural affairs and environment. The late former minister was also a member of the Lower House in 1984-1993 and the Senate. Born in Salt in 1942, Hmoud held the position of Secretary-General of the Arab and Africa Parliamentary Forum on Population and Development (FPA) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Salt Reconstruction Foundation. Between 1969-1970, Hmoud occupied the position of mayor of Salt, and in 1978 he served as a member of the National Consultative Council. During his life, Hmoud was granted the Order of the Renaissance of the First Class.
