Jordan’s dams reach 40.5% of total capacity

AMMAN — The Ministry of Water on Thursday said that the Kingdom's dams now hold 40.5 per cent, or 113.5 million cubic metres (mcm), of their total storage capacity of 280.7 mcm after acquiring some 9 million cubic metres of rain over the past 24 hours,  according to a ministry statement.  

Precipitation reached 71.8 per cent of Jordan's long-term average of 8.1 billion cubic metres, reaching 90.3 per cent of overall rain seen last year. 

The highest rainfall was recorded in Karak, at 24 millimetres, the ministry added.
