AMMAN — The Ministry of Water/Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) on Tuesday said that the Kingdom's dams now hold 40.5 per cent, or 114 million cubic metres (mcm), of their total storage capacity of 280.7 mcm.
The ministry noted that current dam storage supplies agricultural and industrial facilities, the ministry said in a statement.
Also on Tuesday, Director of the Jordan Meteorological Department, Raed Al Khattab, said that the current rainy season is still below the annual average in most regions of the Kingdom, except for the east-central and a few southern areas, including Aqaba, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Khattab said that early February witnessed three weather depressions that increased the Kingdom’s rainfall average, as some northern and central areas received around 200 per cent of their monthly averages.
