Jordanian peacekeepers leave for UN’s Mali mission

AMMAN — The Jordanian peacekeeping contingent, Mali/1,  on Thursday left the Kingdom to take part in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). 

The armed forces have participated in the peacekeeping mission in the west African nation of Mali since 2018 through providing services in Gao airport, northern Mali, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The MINUSMA was established by Security Council Resolution 2100 of April 25, 2013 to support political processes in that country and carry out a number of security-related tasks.  The mission was asked to support the transitional authorities of Mali in the stabilisation of the country and implementation of the transitional roadmap, according to the UN website.
