AMMAN — A delegation from the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) and Syrian Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Minister Amr Salem on Tuesday discussed means to advance Jordanian-Syrian economic partnerships, notably to supply the two markets with high-quality goods and services at competitive prices.

Talks during the meeting, which came on the sidelines of a Jordanian trade and services fair currently ongoing in Damascus, went over the necessity to remove any obstacles that hinder the flow of goods in both directions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Wednesday.

Salem voiced keenness to improve joint economic action, highlighting the importance of optimising Jordan’s experience in the ICT sector, as Syria is moving towards introducing digitalisation and an e-billing system, calling for holding a Jordanian ICT exhibition in Damascus.

Expressing interest to build strategic relations and partnerships with Syria, Kabariti stressed the need to operationalise the Jordanian-Syrian free zone.

Haitham Rawajbeh, ICT representative at the JCC, expressed the sector’s readiness to offer the neighbouring country all required services and software solutions, noting the Kingdom’s 1,000 IT companies technically support several countries in the region.
