AMMAN — A Jordanian exhibition for trade and services, co-organised by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) and the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, is scheduled to kick off in Damascus on Tuesday, the JCC announced on Sunday.

The three-day event will see the participation of Jordanian companies in various sectors, mainly trade and the ICT, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

JCC President Nael Kabariti said that holding the exhibition “reflects an important economic dimension to further enhance commercial ties between the two countries, and sends a message to all that the economic sectors in both sectors are exerting efforts to establish a new era of commercial integration”.

The JCC president also said that resuming Jordanian-Syrian commercial ties to their previous levels serves the joint interests for the two economies, especially that Syria with its border crossings and port represent an important “commercial valve” to the Kingdom, which, in return, represent an “important gateway” for Syrian commodities.

Figures by the Department of Statistics show that the value of Jordanian exports to Syria in the first 10 months of 2021 reached some JD45 million, while the Kingdom’s imports from Syria stood at around JD40 million, Petra added.
