House speaker receives Cypriot ambassador

AMMAN — Lower House speaker Atef Tarawneh and Cypriot Ambassador to Jordan Charalambos Hadjisavvas on Monday discussed ways to boost relations and reviewed the latest regional developments.
Discussions focused on the Syrian crisis, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the Syrian refugee influx.
At the meeting, Tarawneh was handed a letter from Yiannakis Omirou, president of the Cypriot house of representatives, outlining correspondence with EU migration and humanitarian assistance officials on the refugee crisis that Jordan is dealing with, based on observations during his September visit to Jordan.

A parliamentary delegation, headed by Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh, on Wednesday left for Cyprus for a several-day official visit in response to an invitation from Yiannakis Omirou, the speaker of the Cyprus house of representatives.
Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammad Momani, who is acting foreign minister, met on Wednesday with Yiannakis Omirou, president of the Cypriot parliament, to discuss the latest regional developments.
Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh on Monday met separately with Afghan Ambassador Majnoon Gulab and Cypriot Ambassador Charalambos Hadjisavvas to discuss issues of mutual interest.
