AMMAN — The Health Ministry on Saturday launched the annual emergency response plan in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The plan aims at increasing the capabilities of healthcare providers and security personnel to respond to mass casualty events. Health Minister Ghazi Zaben, who inaugurated the coordinative meeting organised by the ICRC, reviewed the ministry’s plans and efforts to support emergency departments (ED) and staff, praising the ICRC’s cooperation and ongoing support, which has positive effects on field training and equipping EDs.
Jordan Red Crescent (JRC) President Mohammad Mutlaq Hadid said that the ICRC, in cooperation with its partner the JRC, organises specialised courses related to emergency response. The ICRC also intends to provide equipment for six EDs in selected hospitals in Maan, Ruwaished, Zarqa, Northern Badia, Tafileh and Karak, he said, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
