AMMAN — The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) in the first quarter of 2018 closed 82 quarries that violated licence terms and warned 11 others, Chief Commissioner Farouq Hiyari said on Sunday.
The decisions were made after field inspection campaigns by EMRC teams that targeted 270 quarries and mines across the Kingdom, Hiyari said as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
He called on owners of violating institutions to visit the commission to rectify their status and to avoid fines stipulated in the law. Hiyari noted that EMRC in the first three months of the year issued 665 licences, including 577 for exporting raw stone and 88 for quarry licences.
