‘162 unlicensed quarries closed during first half of 2017’

AMMAN — The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) on Saturday said it has closed 162 unlicensed quarries during the first half of this year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. In the same period, EMRC has also recorded 62 violations and notified 52 quarries for licensing violations.
The commission added that it has issued 1,031 permissions and licences for quarries, exploration and mining, of which 133 were quarry licences, five exploration licences, and one mining permission, in addition to 892 raw material exportation licences.
