AMMAN — The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) has launched a campaign to inspect institutions that use radiation for medical purposes, the commission said on Saturday.
Some 600 institutions and 1,200 dentist clinics use devices with radiation, the EMRC said in a statement.
EMRC Chief Commissioner Farouq Hiyari said the campaign will cover the whole Kingdom, adding that so far, 65 institutions have been inspected in Amman.
Only 13 of the facilities in the capital were licensed to use radiation by the EMRC, said Hiyari, adding that the remaining 42 were given a deadline to secure licences.
