AMMAN — Postponement of parliamentary elections is “the prerogative of the King”, while the Independent Election Commission (IEC) can change the date of the polling day, Chairman of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) Khaled Kalaldeh said on Saturday.
He stressed that the postponement of the elections is tied to the Kingdom's epidemiological situation. During his meeting with members of the Amman Group for Future Dialogues (Jamaat Amman), Kalaldeh reviewed the commission's preparations for conducting the upcoming parliamentary elections, slated for November 10.
He said that the commission dealt with about 49 violations, including 26 related to financial irregularities and election campaigning, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
