Delegation represents Jordan at international import expo in China

AMMAN — Jordan Investment Commission (JIC) officials recently held several meetings with Chinese institutions, which mainly addressed economic relations and commercial exchange with a focus on means to increase Jordanian exports to China and attract more investments into the Kingdom.
Heading a Jordanian delegation to the 2019 China International Import Expo (CIIE), which concluded on Sunday, JIC Secretary General Faridon Hartouqa met with the director of the Shanghai Business Centre over means to open a permanent JIC office in Shanghai to promote Jordanian exports to China, a JIC statement said on Monday.
At the expo, which is in its second edition, Hartouqa and the accompanying delegates inaugurated the JIC pavilion and visited the exhibition area of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI).
Musa Saket, head of the ACI “Made in Jordan” campaign, highlighted the importance of Jordanian participation in the exhibition, expressing hope that the fair will contribute to building partnerships that can increase Jordanian exports to China.
On the sidelines of the event, Hartouqa met with members of the Arab Businesspeople Forum in China and acquainted them with different features of the Kingdom’s investment environment and its readiness to attract projects in various sectors.
The second CIIE concluded with $71.13 billion worth of tentative deals reached for one-year purchases of goods and services, according to the expo's website.
"The amount rose 23 per cent from that of last year," Sun Chenghai, vice director of the CIIE Bureau, was quoted on the website as saying.
A total of 181 countries, regions and international organisations attended the expo, and more than 3,800 enterprises participated in the exhibitions.
