AMMAN — The Criminal Court prosecutor is currently questioning witnesses in a deadly domestic dispute case in which a 50-year-old man reportedly shot and killed his three sisters in one of the Kingdom's governorates earlier this month, official sources said.

On August 1, police officials announced that a man reportedly shot his three sisters while at their home in Balqa governorate, killing them instantly.

"The suspect reportedly turned himself in to police and handed them two pistols, which he said he used in the incident," Police Spokesperson Col. Amer Sartawi told The Jordan Times recently.

The suspect claimed that "he shot his sisters over a domestic dispute that broke out with his brother, and the three victims attempted to intervene and they were shot as a result," according to Sartawi.

The three victims aged 53, 45 and 43, received multiple gunshot wounds mostly to their chests, according to medical sources.

"The three women were rushed to a nearby hospital, but were all declared dead on arrival by attending physicians," the medical source told The Jordan Times.

Meanwhile, a senior judicial source told The Jordan Times that Criminal Court Prosecutor Salah Taleb "charged the suspect with three counts of premeditated murder".

The senior judicial source added that "the suspect did not provide a clear motive behind the shooting incident other than claiming that it was a family dispute".

"Taleb is currently questioning witnesses and family members to learn more about the reason behind the shooting incident," the senior judicial source said.

The senior judicial source added that the suspect was ordered detained at a correctional and rehabilitation centre for 15 days pending further investigations into the incident.
