AMMAN — The Royal Scientific Society (RSS), in cooperation with the University of Jordan (UJ), held a workshop on Tuesday to discuss a project titled “Promoting Water Use Efficiency in Green Schools”, according to a statement sent to The Jordan Times.
The USAID-funded project targets UJ’s Model School and Dahiyet Al Hussein Secondary School.
Representatives of several ministries, companies and civil society organisations, in addition to teams from both schools, attended the workshop.
The project aims to improve the lifestyle and well-being of the school community and surrounding local communities through fostering sustainable environmental behaviours, the statement said.
“It is hoped that through this project, the students’ contribution to the efforts exerted to achieve sustainable development in their communities will be activated through reinforcing their feeling of responsibility and having them involved in the decision-making process,” the statement quoted Mohammad Saydam, chief science officer at the RSS, as saying.
