AMMAN — A woman infected with COVID-19 underwent a caesarean section operation at King Abdullah University Hospital, according to the hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Senior Consultant Ibrahim Sharaydah.
The patient, who is in her 20s, underwent the surgery because her condition required it and “not because she is infected with COVID-19”, he said, noting that the patient was in her 39th week of pregnancy and was confirmed to be infected with the virus 10 days ago, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The consultant stressed that both the mother and the child are in good health, noting that the newborn was separated from her mother for laboratory tests.
