AMMAN — A suspect wanted in tens of criminal cases was killed in an exchange of gunfire with Royal Badia Forces personnel at a security checkpoint in the Sarhan region in the Northern Badia on Saturday, according to the Public Security Department (PSD) media office.
The suspect was in a car with no licence plate, whose driver refused to stop and attempted to hit security personnel, the PSD said.
The car’s occupants then began firing at the police, who returned fire.
Two men were seen escaping from the car after the driver hit a fence.
An injured man was found in the car and was transported to the nearest hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the PSD said, adding that an investigation revealed that the dead man was wanted in ten cases.
A search is under way for the other two men.
