AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday reaffirmed that Jordan will continue coordinating efforts with all stakeholders to ensure a permanent end of the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

At a meeting with a delegation from the US Congress, the King called for a continued flow of medical and humanitarian assistance to the strip and the immediate start of the reconstruction process to address the destruction caused by the Israeli offensive and the ensuing damage to Gaza’s infrastructure, according to a Royal Court statement.

The Monarch also underlined the need to intensify international efforts to resume peace talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

He cited the “pivotal” role the US is playing in bringing about new momentum to the peace process to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue according to the two-state solution, the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative and the international terms of references.

King Abdullah also highlighted the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on neighbouring countries, in addition to the recent developments in Iraq.

Discussions also covered bilateral ties and means to boost them at all levels.

For their part, the delegates commended the role His Majesty plays in the region to restore stability and security, according to the statement.
