NEW YORK — Jordan’s participation in peacekeeping missions, including police work, is a result of the Kingdom’s belief in the importance of respecting human rights and the sovereignty of law, Dina Kawar, Jordan’s representative to the UN Security Council (UNSC), said Friday.

At a UNSC session on the work of police in peacekeeping missions, she expressed pride that Jordan is one of the early participants in preserving international peace and security.

On UNSC Resolution 2185, Kawar said it highlights the pivotal role police forces execute in peacekeeping, peacebuilding and guaranteeing practical steps that would improve the police efficiency.

Jordan has participated in 22 peacekeeping missions in different locations so far.
