AMMAN – Police on Sunday arrested two men who reportedly attacked a fuel station worker in Balqa Governorate during an attempted robbery, according to the Public Security Department (PSD).
Balqa police received a report that the two suspects hit a worker at a fuel station with clubs to rob the money he was carrying, but he fought back and prevented them from stealing anything, the PSD said in a statement.
The alleged assailants then hit the worker and fled the scene, police said.
An intensive search and evidence collection led Balqa police to identify and arrest one of the suspects who confessed to committing the crime with another person who was also arrested subsequently.
The incident occurred after 2am and the worker, Omar Rahahleh, was sleeping when he was attacked, one of the gas station’s managers told The Jordan Times over the phone.
Rahahleh was in possession of more than JD2,000, the manager said, adding that he was taken to Al Hussein Public Hospital in Salt where he was listed in fair condition.
“The 29-year-old has been working with us for around one year and has a good reputation. He is loved by all the staff,” added the manager, who did not give his name.
