AMMAN — Authorities on Tuesday isolated two residential buildings in Irbid after two coronavirus cases were reported there on Monday.

The two patients work in a bank in the northern governorate, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Director of the Irbid Health Affairs Department Qassem Mayas said that epidemiological inspection teams have since collected more than 100 samples from the patients’ contacts, including bank employees working at the same branch, clients and their families, among others, noting that more tests will be performed in the coming period.

Mayas added that the bank will be closed for 72 hours for disinfection, noting that the branch will resume work with new staff who had not been working during the previous period, as the bank has been operating with minimal staff.

An official source from the epidemiological committee and epidemiological investigation teams in Irbid said that the source of the two employees’ infection is still unknown, Petra added.
