AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel have arrested a man suspected over the murder of his brother in Tafileh and a suspect involved in the murder of a man in his forties, the Public Security Department (PSD) said on Thursday.
On April 16, the body of a man in his forties was found in a farm in Tafileh Governorate, 180km southwest of Amman.
Investigators initially discovered that the victim had been shot and had several head injuries before transferring the body for autopsy.
The detectives located and arrested the suspect, who confessed to going to his brother’s farm and shooting him after an argument.
The suspect said he returned to the crime scene the next morning and hit the victim on the head, later bringing a friend and pretending he had just discovered the killing, asking him to call for help and report it to the authorities, the PSD said.
The murder weapon was found in a deserted area and the case was referred to the judiciary.
In another case, police in Zarqa, 22km east of Amman, received a report on April 13 about a body inside a public transport vehicle in a deserted area in Berin, Zarqa, the PSD said, adding that the dead man was a public transport worker in his forties.
A suspect was later arrested, according to the PSD, and later confessed to having attempted to rob the victim with an accomplice. The victim resisted them and they allegedly stabbed and killed him.
An investigation is ongoing to locate the accomplice, the PSD added.
