AMMAN — The Civil Defence training of trainer courses held within the “Improving Emergency Response Services for Syrian Refugees and Affected Jordanian Communities” project concluded late last week.

The project, implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), on behalf of the Japanese government, and in partnership with the Civil Defence Department (CDD), seeks to assist Jordan in managing the influx of Syrian refugees, according to a UNOPS statement issued Monday.

Under the project, the Japanese government donated four new fully equipped ambulances, and covered the cost of advanced paramedic and cardiopulmonary resuscitation training 20 CDD personnel.

“You and those who, in turn, you will train, have a difficult and fundamental job of saving lives,” the statement quoted Nieves Molina-Clemente, UNOPS programme manager, as telling trainees.

“I thank you for that and I wish you strength to carry out such an important task.”
