AMMAN — The increase in traffic fines is a measure intended to protect people’s lives, Central Traffic Department (CTD) Director Brig. Gen. Sameer Bino said on Thursday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During a tour organised by the CTD for media outlets to review the department’s efforts during the last 10 days of Ramadan, Bino said that the measure has reduced traffic congestion and enhanced the public’s abidance with traffic laws, calling on drivers to avoid parking that could lead to traffic jams.
He noted that, in addition to having 2,600 traffic police officers on the ground, the CTD has tools to deter violations, such as wheel locks, towing trucks and cameras.
