Tourism Ministry studying effect of sector on national economy

AMMAN — Tourism Minister Lina Annab on Tuesday said the ministry has started taking count of the number of people arriving in and leaving the Kingdom to assess the effect of tourism on the national economy.
Annab said the project, implemented at a cost of JD390,000, includes a study on indicators of inbound, local and outbound expenditures, in addition to the total and direct added value of tourism and its share in the gross domestic product, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Department of Statistics, the Interior Ministry, the Tourist Police Directorate and the Jordan Tourism Board are partners in the project, she noted.
