AMMAN — The solar panels project, implemented by the Deir Alla Municipality and covering roughly 65 per cent of the total annual energy bill will save the municipality about JD390,000, said head of the municipality Mustafa Shatti on Wednesday.
A recent site visit included the Executive Director of Global Affairs Canada Sean Boyd, with Shatti saying that the Canadian-funded project would help in reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Additionally, it will cut energy costs and create job opportunities for locals, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Thursday.
The savings made during the first phase will be used for the development of asphalt pavement, he said, noting that savings in the energy bill will serve development operations in the district. Boyd commended the success of the project, noting that it is part of future cooperation.
