AMMAN — Police on Saturday announced the arrest of three people eight years after they allegedly stole JD168,000 and cheques worth JD23,000 from a public shareholding company.
Police received fresh information last week regarding the possible implication of two men in the unsolved robbery that occurred almost a decade ago, according to a Public Security Department (PSD) statement.
“Police immediately reopened the case and monitored the two suspects, and eventually arrested them,” the statement said.
The two men reportedly confessed and said they entered the company with the help of another employee, and took the cash and cheques from a safe.
“The employee was summoned for questioning and he confessed to being part of the robbery,” the statement added.
All three men were detained pending further investigation into the incident.
The statement did not reveal if the stolen cash and cheques were retrieved and PSD Spokesperson Maj. Amer Sartawi was unavailable all day to comment on the incident.
