AMMAN — Zarqa Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel arrested a suspect for allegedly stabbing a police officer, a Public Security Department (PSD) statement said Tuesday.
The man reportedly stabbed a policeman and escaped arrest after his family in Zarqa reported him to police, saying he was “extremely drunk” and was hitting his siblings and destroying furniture. Police managed to track him down and arrest him, and the injured police officer is still under treatment and listed in fair condition, the PSD said.
In another case, Amman CID personnel arrested a suspect, wanted for 55 crimes, after he reportedly stole documents and cheques from a factory owner and demanded a ransom. The suspect confessed to stealing the contents of a safe at the factory, which included JD3,500, cheques and official documents.
