Tax evasion costs Kingdom JD650m annually — Minister

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State Rajai Muasher on Monday said that the value of tax evasion in the Kingdom stands at some JD650 million annually, 38 per cent of which represents sales tax evasion.
During a meeting with representatives of civil society and human rights institutions, Muasher stressed the government's desire to achieve a stable income tax law that will exist for years through conducting a comprehensive dialogue with all stakeholders, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Government Coordinator for Human Rights Basel Tarawneh highlighted the importance for the government to continue conducting consultation over laws related to human rights, especially those that affect social and economic rights.
For his part, National Centre for Human Rights Chief Commissioner Mousa Breizat called for considering the main rights of citizens when adopting any tax legislation.
