Tawjihi results announced as ministry prepares for next academic year

AMMAN — The new scholastic year will bring with it several changes at schools across the Kingdom, the top of which include new curricula and obligatory pre-school, Education Minister Walid Maani said on Thursday.

During a press conference to announce the Tawjihi (general secondary education certificate examination) results at the ministry’s Queen Rania Al Abdullah Educational Technology Centre, Maani said that the ministry is currently updating curricula, some of which will be applied in the coming academic year.

He added that the ministry is working on developing the Tawjihi examinations after the exam was given under a new system this year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The ministry will also continue working to improve school environments, the minister said, adding that teacher rehabilitation and training programmes are on “the right track towards developing teachers’ competencies and enhancing their expertise”.

Regarding the complementary examination session, Maani said that in a few days ministry personnel will begin procedures to start the session with the help of government and community institutions.

He noted that the complementary session is an opportunity provided to all students who sat for the general examination and want to re-sit for one subject or more with the aim of completing their requirements or increasing their averages.
