AMMAN — The Tawjihi (general secondary education certificate examination) 2019 summer session concluded on Monday, with about 160,000 students from different academic and vocational streams sitting for the exam.
Education Minister Walid Maani, in a statement following the conclusion of the exams, said that the exams went smoothly, thanking all national institutions that supported the ministry during the test, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The session has received positive feedback, which encourages the ministry to go forward in developing this national exam, Maani said, highlighting the measures that have been implemented to reduce the number of subjects covered in test as well as the volume of the school curriculum by 20 per cent.
The supplementary session, for those who failed to complete all their subjects or wish to improve their marks, will be held immediately after announcing the examination results, the ministry said, adding that the move was introduced after taking into consideration the admission process at universities.
The ministry said it has assigned 17,000 teachers to 89 centres to evaluate the answer sheets. The results will be out on July 25, Petra added.
