Speaker affirms Jordanian support of Iraq in meeting with ambassador

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh on Monday received Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Haider Al Athari and affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Iraq and its people.
He said that this “firm position” is held by His Majesty King Abdullah, stressing that Jordan is “deeply concerned” with Iraq overcoming its current conditions on the basis of national consensus, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Tarawneh valued the recent Iraqi decision to agree to grant multiple-entry visas to Jordanian truck drivers directly from the embassy, stressing the importance of maintaining coordination and cooperation to serve the interests of both peoples.
For his part, the Iraqi ambassador expressed his appreciation for Jordan’s support of Iraq, led by His Majesty, which have “always demonstrated his eagerness for keeping Iraq safe and stable”.
