AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Tuesday stressed Jordan's support for Arab and international efforts to end the Yemeni crisis in a manner that preserves Yemen's unity and territorial integrity alongside ending the suffering of Yemeni people, fulfilling their aspirations for security, stability and peace.
Fayez's remarks came during a meeting with Yemen’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
His Majesty King Abdullah consistently stresses the need to reach a comprehensive solution in Yemen that ends the cycle of violence and enables it to overcome security and political challenges, he said.
He voiced the Kingdom’s keenness to continue providing support for Yemen and its UN mission, which is based in Amman.
Fayez reiterated the Kingdom’s welcoming of the extension of the truce in Yemen for two additional months, expressing hopes it would reduce the intensity of the conflict.
The Jordanian senate president stressed the importance of opening roads and the lifting of the siege on the city of Taiz to ease the suffering of its residents.
In the presence of the Chairman of the Committee on Arab and International Affairs and Expatriates in the Senate, Nasser Louzi, and the Yemeni Ambassador to the Kingdom Ali Amrani, the two sides discussed bolstering cooperation in a number of areas.
Bin Mubarak referred to efforts exerted to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis and restore security and stability, extending appreciation of Jordan and His Majesty King Abdullah for supporting Yemen.
He expressed Yemen’s keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation, describing Yemeni-Jordanian relations as “historical, with common bonds, history, and interests.”
The Yemeni minister referred to his visit as an important step “towards institutionalising this sincere brotherly cooperation between Jordan and Yemen,” noting that “Jordan has always been a hospitable and welcoming country, and Yemenis have always been welcome in Jordan.”
