Senate president, House speaker stress importance of cooperation

AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez and Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi on Wednesday stressed the importance of cooperation between the two chambers.

This cooperation is needed in order to move forward with legislative and oversight measures that will realise His Majesty King Abdullah's directives that he made during the Speech from the Throne. During a meeting at Safadi's office, talks stressed that the contents of the King's Speech have created a roadmap for national priorities in the coming period, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Both sides also called for maintaining communication between the two chambers in order to improve laws listed on the parliamentary agenda. They stressed that the Speech from the Throne placed great responsibilities upon the legislative branch, which require cooperation and efforts towards integration, especially considering the separation of powers outlined in the Constitution.
